From Humble Beginnings to a Museum to be proud of.
The Museum’s journey began with just a handful of boxes and a few glass cabinets. Over the years, these modest beginnings have grown into the impressive Museum we see today. Initially, small displays were arranged in rooms within our drill halls, gradually evolving and culminating in the comprehensive exhibitions currently on show.
The Museum Trust
The Museum is administered by a small dedicated team of Trustees who are dedicated to,ensuring the Museum is fit for purpose, now and in the future.
The Role of Our Volunteers
Our dedicated team of volunteers has been instrumental in the Museum’s development since its inception. The Museum created by Colonel Mike Haycock was first led by our inaugural volunteer Bryan Johnson, BEM. Their leadership set the standard for future volunteers, focusing on engaging with visitors and bringing the Museum’s exhibits to life. This ethos continues to shape our work as each new group of volunteers embraces the same commitment to connecting with the public.
In 2012 our volunteers faced the significant challenge of stripping out the Museum, moving the contents to a secure store, to enable The Court House to be renovated thanks to a Heritage Lottery Grant. The structural renovations to the building were completed by March 2014 and our volunteers then commenced to rebuild the Museum displays. Their hard work and dedication enabled the Museum to re-open in August 2014, with a renewed aim: to share the collective memory and heritage of the Regiment including who we are and what we represent in the County Town of Warwick.
Meet Our Current Team
Today, our volunteers are led by Archivist Philip Wilson. Philip is responsible for updating our History of the Regiment in our Website and Facebook page, as well as conducting vital research into the lives of our soldiers upon request. The Museum is entirely funded by donations; no one on the team is paid.
